The South Dakota Arts Council has purchased 10 new pieces of artwork for the state’s public art collection.
The pieces were acquired through the Art for State Buildings program from 80 proposals submitted.
The artworks selected include:
- “Presence of a Hero” by Hill City artist Roger Broer
- “Thin Ice, Take II” by Pierre artist Charlene Brown
- “The Last Battle” by Sioux Falls artist Hector Curriel
- “Spring Sensations” by Sturgis artist DeVee Dietz
- “House of Clouds” by Garretson artist Susan Hartenhoff Haygood
- “Morning Thunder” by Rapid City artist Donald Montileaux
- “The Space Between” by Rapid City Emma Rivers
- “Sunrise at Sylvan” by Mitchell artist Allison Russell
- “Settling In” by Sioux Falls artist Mecca Rutherford
- “Chasing the Sun” by Watertown artist Jennifer Stone
All 10 pieces will be installed for public display this summer in state government buildings in Pierre.
