Parkston is looking to bring a new option for entertainment to the area next year with the help of the Levitt Foundation. The small town in southeastern South Dakota has reached the public voting phase of the national application process.

The Parkston Commercial Club, a non-profit organization that plans and promotes events in the community, is working with Avera St. Benedict Hospital in an effort to bring a free outdoor music series to the Parkston Amphitheater.

Funding for the concert series would come from a Levitt Music Series Grant, which is distributed by the Levitt Foundation on a three-year cycle.

For the 2026 through 2028 cycle, the Levitt Foundation will award non-profits up $120,000 to produce their own music series consisting of seven to 10 concerts featuring a diverse range of acts.

Officials with the Parkston Commercial Club urge the public to support the Parkston proposal by voting in the public voting process. Voting closes September 15th.
