The South Dakota Community Foundation is giving $20,000 to the Clark Community Aquatic Center.

They say funding helps support the construction of a new, modern swimming pool to replace one built over 70 years ago.

Clark County officials say the new pool will have updated safety features and more accessible designs like a handicap lift.

Last August, volunteers in the community formed the Clark Community Aquatic Center committee to find a solution to increasing maintenance and repair costs of the current pool.

The committee determined the city needed a new pool to support both Clark and its surrounding communities. The group had reached the $1 million fundraising threshold in May.

The community foundation’s gift helps fundraising efforts towards the $2.5 million goal.
