The community of Britton, SD has plans to build a new community center. This estimated $2.4 million project would replace the towns current facility, Kidder Gym.
In a recent article by the Associated Press, Paula Jensen of Glacial Lakes Area Development said discussions are underway for the new community center to include “4-H classrooms, an archery and BB gun area, a gym, a walking track, and a preschool and 24-hour day care center.”
To make the project even more of a reality, an anonymous donor recently pledged $1 million to help fund the new facility. The community hopes to match that amount this summer.
Design plans for the new community center are still in the preliminary stages, but the Britton-Hecla school board plans to demolish Kidder Gym on July 15.
