South Dakota high school golf tournements held in May have occasionally been far less than ideal in terms of weather. Course conditions can also be poor if weather conditions haven't let the turf and other features recover from winter and early spring storms.
In 2015, the South Dakota High School Activities Association changed the date for the spring golf championships. In the video clip below, John Krogstrand, SDHSAA Assistant director talks about the reasons for the change and the so far positive outcome.
