A major construction project at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport will impact parking for a while.
The airport is building a new a four-level parking structure adding roughly 975 spaces, according to a press release.
Construction on the $63 million project begins April 3.
Officials say during construction, only 67% of regular long-term and short-term parking will be available.
The airport is adding parking spaces to its economy lot and increasing shuttle service to compensate.
“We're excited to begin construction on this project as our new parking structure will provide much-needed parking capacity for our passengers,” said Dan Letellier, Executive Director of Sioux Falls Regional Airport. "We recognize the inconvenience this may cause during the construction phase, and are committed to keeping our passengers informed and making the process as smooth as possible."
The new parking ramp will stand where the current short-term and north long-term parking lots exist and includes a skyway from the second level to the main terminal. The project is set to be complete in October of 2024.
