The Goodwill of The Great Plains company is celebrating one hundred years in existence.
It is made up of 21 different store locations across Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
In addition to its thrift stores, Goodwill of The Great Plains locations offer community engagement resources. The stores promote tools to get and maintain employment through their job training programs. Then with seasonal clothing drives, locations provide kindergarten through fifth grade age kids with winter clothes.
The Chief Growth and Compliance Officer, Charlotte Nelson, said the company is discussing the possibility of increasing the age range to include children up to the eighth grade.
“We really want to have people be economic self-sufficient and able to provide for their own family,” said Nelson.
The newest store location is currently being built in Vermillion. It will become the 14th store in the state.
