Another round of funding for rural high-speed broadband projects in South Dakota is available.

Gov. Kristi Noem and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced $27 million in funding Tuesday as part of the state’s Connect SD program.

“We are revitalizing small town America with this investment. And we are preserving our way of life,” Noem said. “My vision is to bring, high-speed internet to every home and business in South Dakota. No one should have to choose between the modern economy and a life in their hometown. It’s time to finish the job.”

Telecommunications companies can apply for the grants to pay for projects connecting rural, underserved areas.

This is the eighth and final round of funding for the program. According to Noem's Office, since 2019 over $269.5 million has been invested into broadband expansion through Connect SD.

Grant applications will be available soon on the Connect SD website.
