Sioux Metro Growth Alliance (SMGA) announced Tyler Tordsen will serve as the organization’s next President and CEO.

Tordsen said some of his first tasks include organizational strategic planning.

“It’s going to be a lot of listening, a lot of learning and a lot of communicating and building the vision together, and that’s what I’m really excited about," Tordsen said. "And so I just put a little plug that I hope people continue to keep that coming in. I want SMGA to be invited to all the exciting super popular events that are happening in their towns, but at the same time, too, even if it’s a town hall on an issue that the community wants to tackle, we want to be in the room listening so we can be a part of the solutions.”

He also says that he wants to be able to collaborate with the region as a whole, but that comes with challenges.

“We’ve got currently 16 member communities... A lot of different stakeholders that are involved in this group and being able to advocate for the region," Tordsen said. "What’s good for the communities that all have their own identity and their own exciting things happening and their own possibilities.”

Tordsen served under U.S. Senator Mike Rounds as his Southeast Regional Director and State Director of Tribal Affairs for more than eight years. He joins SMGA on Monday, Oct. 23.
