'Grants for Grads' program aids first-time home buyers

South Dakota Housing has launched a program to assist collegiate graduates purchase their first home.

The Grants for Grads program went live on May 3.

It is open to first-time home buyers who are purchasing a primary residence and graduated from an accredited university in the past 60 months.

There are income restrictions and purchase price requirements as well.

The program is offered only through participating lenders, with assistance capped at 5% of the loan amount.

Ryan is the local host of "Morning Edition". Originally from Iowa, he first came to the Black Hills to study at SD Mines. After graduating in 2019, he was an educator in Arizona and North Dakota before returning to the Black Hills.
