This springs variable weather has South Dakota’s crops taking a little longer to emerge this year.

Corn is 94% planted, but only 68% emerged, according to the latest USDA crop report.

About 75% of soybeans have been planted and 34% emerged. The 5 year average for soybean emergence is 42%.

Despite the slow emergence, corn, spring wheat, and oats, are all showing over 80% of crop being in good or excellent condition.
