South Dakota receives a presidential disaster declaration following historic flooding in late June.

Governor Kristi Noem announced this week that 25 counties have received disaster assistance from FEMA.

Those 25 counties are: Aurora, Bennett, Bon Homme, Brule, Buffalo, Charles Mix, Clay, Davison, Douglas, Gregory, Hand, Hanson, Hutchinson, Jackson, Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, Sanborn, Tripp, Turner, Union, and Yankton.

Counties can receive federal funding at the community government, state or tribal level to receive cost sharing assistance for emergency work, repair, and replacement of facilities damaged by the flood.

Residents of Davison, Lincoln, Turner and Union counties qualify for individual assistance. Residents and business owners have to contact FEMA to register for this type of assistance.

Disaster Recovery Center dates and locations will be announced soon.
