Forest Service hiring wildland firefighters in South Dakota

The USDA Forest Service is hiring wildland firefighters in South Dakota.

They are permanent seasonal positions and include engine operators, hotshot crew members, hand crew members, helitack crew members, airtanker technicians, base managers, fuels technicians, fire prevention specialists, assistant fire management officers, dispatchers and other essential fire management positions.

There are 250 openings across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota.

Applications are open Aug. 23 through Sept. 24 for anyone over 18 years of age. Hiring managers will use a direct hire authority to hire applicants, which means veterans' preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply.
