SD Unemployment Claims Fall To Lowest Level Of Pandemic

South Dakota's initial weekly unemployment claims are at their lowest level since the pandemic began.

There were 248 new claims last week. That’s down more than a hundred from the previous week, and it’s the lowest number of new weekly claims in a year. 

There are currently 4,944 South Dakotans receiving unemployment payments.

The state and federal government have paid $360.3 million in unemployment benefits to South Dakotans during the pandemic.
