Paper Bag Wreaths

DIY Wreath

Do you have a plethora of brown paper bags in your closet or stashed under your sink? Here is a fun festive craft for you and your children to do this Thanksgiving season!

Materials

  • Dinner Plate (to use as a template)
  • Smaller Plate
  • Cardboard Box or Piece of Cardboard
  • Paper Bag
  • Bottle Cap or Can Tab (for hanger)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paper For Leaf Template
  • Spray Paint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Use your dinner plate (or other big, circular object) to trace a circle on the cardboard. Make a second, smaller circle inside it, using a smaller plate or other circular object. Then cut out your wreath form.
  2. Draw a leaf shape on a piece of paper. Mine was about 3 inches long. Then trace around it on a paper grocery bag (still folded up) many times, to make a bunch of leaves.
  3. Cut out your leaves.

  1. Cut right through all the layers of the bag (even on the bottom where there are many layers of paper.)
  2. Fold each leaf in half. Make a strong crease down the center. Then unfold.
  3. Glue the leaves to your wreath form. Keep them all going the same direction. I didn't use all the leaves I cut out of one bag. Save

  1. the extras for a second wreath, but fill in as much as you can.
  2. Glue your cap or tab on the back of the wreath to use as a hanger.
  3. If you choose to do so, spray lightly with gold spray paint.
