Investing in Early Learning - Rate of Return

Did you know that studies of high-quality early learning and childcare interventions repeatedly show that participating children and their families gain greatly in a wide range of areas? Those same studies also show that children from high-quality early experiences enter school and the work force better prepared and are more productive. Because they are better prepared they save money in the K-12 system, they are much less likely to involved in the justice system, and ultimately, they will have higher earnings and are less likely to need the services of the welfare system. The Perry Preschool Project and the Federal Reserve Bank estimate that for every dollar spent on quality early learning and childcare there is a return of $16. That is a rate of return of 18% which is three times the average rate of return when investing in the stock market!
