Materials
Egg carton
Paint
Rice, beans, beads or other small noise-making items
Glue gun
Popsicle sticks
Scissors
Tape (optional)
Glitter, sequins, stickers, etc. (optional)
Directions
1 Cut four egg cups from an egg carton and paint them whatever color(s) you'd like.
2 Fill two of the egg carton cups with rice or other noise-making items.
3 Put a dab of glue on the rim in the place you would like the handle of your maraca to be.
4 Press the end of a popsicle stick onto the glue and hold firmly for several seconds.
5 Spread glue around the entire rim of a single egg cup, making sure to go over the craft stick as well.
6 Take a second egg cup, press it down on top and hold firmly. Repeat the above process for the second maraca.
7 Cover the seams with tape to hide it.
8 Have your child decorate her maracas with glitter, stickers, gems and sequins.
9 Give the maracas a shake and save them for other fun occasions!
