Learning about kindness begins early. One important developmental milestone is when kids begin to understand that others may think or feel differently than they do. Build this skill by asking your child how they might feel in common situations. Watch the video together, and help your child put their feet in someone else’s shoes by asking:
- How do you think the boy on the bench felt when he was alone and the others were playing?
- How did he feel once he was invited?
- What did the kids in the video do to be kind to a new friend? (say “come play,” introduce themselves, ask the child’s name, offer to share, find something you both like to do and do it together).
