Oral storytelling (making up stories and telling them aloud) and similar fun reading activities can be opportunities for great conversations and building vocabulary. Kids also learn how stories are “built” (for instance, most stories have a beginning, middle, and end). This all leads to children beginning reading. Together with kids, watch Rosita and her Abuela turn the night sky into a storytelling adventure. Later, try telling kids about a familiar story from your childhood, or a special family story.
