Aberdeen Community Theatre Presents: STEEL MAGNOLIAS

Aberdeen Community Theatre Presents: STEEL MAGNOLIAS
SYNOPSIS: “Steel Magnolias” is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where the local ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Eager new employee, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married), assists the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy, who dispenses free advice to her clients. Memorable customers include the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser (“I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years”); an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; Shelby (the prettiest girl in town), who is about to marry a “good ole boy;” and M’Lynn (Shelby’s mother), the leader of the local social scene. Filled with strong personalities, hilarious repartee and sarcastic one-liners, the play moves toward drama in the second act when the ladies face a truly devastating loss. The women are forced to lean on each other and discover their underlying strength. Hilarious, smart and tragic in turns, the story shows the characters can be “delicate as magnolias but tough as steel.”
SUNDAY PERFORMANCE IS AT 2:30 PM.
