Black Hills Community continues its 58th Season with the update of the classic Greek tale Antigone adapted by Lewis Galantiere from the play by Jean Anouilh.
The brave Antigone dares death to bury her brother's corpse against the decree of the King, her uncle Creon. In spite of her love for Creon's son and the promise of a golden future, Antigone chooses to stand up to oppression and give her brother his rightful burial no matter the cost. First performed in German occupied France, this adaptation of the Greek tale utilizes modern language and humor to bring the classic tale to life.
The cast of local actors features Wynter Miller as Antigone, Scott Buchtel as Creon, Isabelle Schild as Ismene, Paula Kennison and Nurse, Brady Jones as Haemon, Keturah King as Page, Selinas Vigil as Messenger, Angel Orenstein as Eurydice with Victoria Fuller, Daleila Pearce, and Elizabeth Gabriella as Chorus and Merlyn Q. Sell, Hidie Dahl and Karina Causey as Guards.
