A McIntosh woman who admitted to embezzling from a grain elevator has been sentenced.

DeAnn Holzwarth was sentenced to 60 days in jail, six years of probation and ordered to pay a $39,143 fine, according to the Attorney General’s office.

She was also sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the judge suspended that part of the sentence.

Prosecutors say Holzwarth misappropriated or misused almost $50,000 in funds from the McIntosh elevator between January of 2016 and March of 2020.

She eventually pleaded guilty to one count of grand theft by embezzlement.

The South Dakota DCI, the Corson County Sheriff's Office, and the state PUC all took part in the investigation.
