The South Dakota Supreme Court has approved new magistrate judge candidate.

Attorney Jonathan Leddige will serve as Magistrate Judge for the Second Judicial Circuit, which covers Lincoln and Minnehaha counties.

Leddige has lived in Sioux Falls since 2011. He attended law school at the University of North Dakota School of Law and graduated with distinction.

Leddige served as a public defender for nine years at the Minnehaha County Public Defender’s Office. He spent a year teaching criminal defense at the University of South Dakota.

On July 10, Leddige will fill the fifth seat of the Second Judicial Circuit after a recent decision to increase full-time magistrate judges from four to five.
