Drug arrests up at this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

This year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally saw a spike in drug-related crimes.

The Department of Public Safety’s final rally tally showed 401 drug arrests. That's a nearly 60% increase from the 251 reported last year. Since 2020, the rally has averaged around 275 drug-related offenses.

Total citations finished close to average. Authorities reported 120 DUI arrests – that’s down slightly from recent years.

There were five fatal crashes and 64 injury accidents. These both increased from 2022, but are close to the average reported at recent rallies.
