State Attorney General Marty Jackley said some South Dakotans will receive a portion of a massive settlement from Google.
This comes from a lawsuit over what Jackley said is the company’s anti-competitive conduct with Google Play.
Google has agreed to pay back $700 million nationwide.
“This lawsuit was about how Google conducted an unlawful monopoly with the market Android app,” said Jackley. “Not only is this a financial agreement, but it also requires to Google to make its business practices more pro-competitive.”
Jackley said his office will receive $263,000 for expenses and fees.
Officials did not say how many individual South Dakotans will receive money, or how much they might get.
Jackley says Google will contact consumers directly to issue individual payouts.
