State distributes $5 million to support victim care services

South Dakota Office of Attorney General

Officials say 41 organizations in South Dakota are receiving a share of $5,000,000 to continue to support victims of violence and sexual assault.

These one-time funds were approved by Gov. Kristi Noem and the state Legislature.

Organizations receiving funds do not qualify for full funding from the federal Victims of Crime Act grant.

"These grants will provide the resources needed to allow these organizations to assist victims of serious crimes, " said Attorney General Marty Jackley
