Sioux Falls man found guilty of first-degree murder for 2022 shooting

A Sioux Falls man is found guilty of first-degree murder in relation to a 2022 shooting.

On Sept. 5, 2022, Darrian Lamar Johnson went into the apartment of a woman he was in a domestic relationship with.

According to the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office, there he encountered a 26-year-old man. Johnson shot the man several times. The victim died from his injuries.

Johnson, among other crimes, was also convicted of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree burglary in relation to the incident.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Jackson Dircks is a Freeburg, Illinois, native. He is pursuing a degree in English, Journalism and Secondary Education at Augustana University and planning to graduate in May 2025. He plans to pursue a career in sports journalism.
