The South Dakota Department of Corrections is issuing a warning about the release of an inmate considered “high risk.”

Thirty-five-year-old Glenford Old Lodge is being released Thursday. He was serving time for sexual contact without consent in Hughes County.

He’s being released in Winner.

Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko says the department issues public warnings like this when they’re releasing an inmate they believe is at high risk of re-offending. This is determined based on institutional assessments and criminal history.

This is the second warning of this type issued in the past month. The state generally averages one or two per year.
