A longtime Department of Corrections staffer is being named the leader of the Jameson Annex in Sioux Falls.
Tabatha Benting has been appointed warden of the facility, according to Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko.
“I am very proud of Warden Benting as she has provided integral leadership to the Jameson Annex over the last six months,” said Wasko in a statement Monday. “I look forward to her future with the SDDOC.”
Jameson Annex is a maximum-security prison facility adjacent to the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
Benting has 19 years experiences with the DOC, starting as a correctional officer and eventually working up to associate warden at Jameson.
"I’m excited to continue working alongside our team to enhance safety and security for staff, those in our care, and the community,“ said Benting.
Previously, the warden of the state penitentiary also served as warden of the Jameson Annex. However, Wasko announced plans to hire a separate warden for Jameson last year. Officials announced the hiring of Joseph Roemmich as state penitentiary warden earlier this summer.
