A Sioux Falls woman was indicted on federal charges after authorities she made false statements during a gun purchase.
Thirty-year-old Chardea Danies Odom pleaded not guilty to the indictment.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota said that Odom purchased a firearm from a local, licensed firearm dealer in June.
Odom said she was the buyer of firearm on the purchase paperwork. It was later used by a person prohibited from possession a gun and led to shootings in Sioux Falls. One of those shootings involved law enforcement officers.
Attorney General Marty Jackley said Odom’s actions “led to the lives of three law enforcement officers being threatened.”
Odom now faces a total maximum of 15 years in custody and $500,000 fines from both accusations.
