Following a 51-47 vote in the Senate, Ron Parsons Jr. returns as South Dakota’s U.S. Attorney.
Parsons previously served in the position during the first Trump administration from 2018 to 2021.
Parsons studied at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law. He’s argued or handled more than one hundred appeals.
He was one of 107 nominees confirmed through a single vote following a rule change in the Senate spearheaded by Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
In August, Thune said the Senate was spending an enormous amount of time on nominations at the expense of other legislative business.
Thune congratulated Parsons Jr. on social media, saying he “has already proved what it takes to be a great U.S. attorney.”
