The South Dakota Highway Patrol said another saturation patrol in Sioux Falls rolled out as part of the Operation: Prairie Thunder public safety campaign led to dozens of arrests.
Patrols include coordination with the state Highway Patrol and members of the city, county and federal law enforcement targeting crime and unsafe activity on the roads.
Department of Public Safety data shows from Oct. 29-31, the patrols resulted in 59 arrests. Of those, 38 had a drug charge.
The patrol executed 8 felony-level warrants and 30 misdemeanor-level warrants. They also apprehended two parole absconders.
The patrols also allow DPS to contact Immigrations Customs Enforcement for immigration encounters. Of 14 individual ICE contacts eight were put in custody.
DPS said immigration-related encounters are a byproduct of enforcing state traffic and criminal laws.
