Authorities say nine people are facing charges in a cocaine distribution ring operating in Davison County.

Attorney General Marty Jackley said eight of the nine suspects are from Mitchell, one is from Ethan. One suspect is a woman, the rest are men.

“These drug traffickers are bringing dangerous drugs into our state; that has to stop,” said Jackley in a statement released Thursday. “I will investigate and prosecute those drug dealers who endanger our citizens.”

Each suspect is charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. That’s punishable by up to 10 years in prison, if convicted. Several face additional drug-related charges including distribution in a drug-free zone.

Investigators said the charges stem from drug operations between March and September of this year.

Jackley said three of the suspects are from Guatemala and also face immigration charges. The DCI is working with federal authorities on the issue.

The DCI and the Mitchell Police Department investigated the case.
