Workforce education grants rolled out to schools statewide

This work is being done in the town of Centerville, SD. The elevator on the south side of town is expanding. It is always good news to see construction happening in the small towns of South Dakota. Since farming is the predominate lifestyle of our state, the need for newer, advanced facilities is a constant.

Five schools around the state were awarded this year’s workforce education grants.

The Workforce Education Fund was created by the state legislature in 2013 and focuses on distributing grants to career and technical education programs in high schools.

School districts in Edgemont, Parker, Sioux Falls, Wall, and Woonsocket were given grants to purchase new equipment or build additional technical education space.

The grants represent a total investment over $820,000. Individual grants range from $60,000 to $225,000.
