USD is now the first South Dakota Board of Regents school to receive the U.S. Department of State IDEAS Grant.

The IDEAS Program is part of the state department’s goal to increase citizen engagement in global conversations.

USD plans to use the funding to decrease financial barriers to students’ ability to study abroad, according to a press release from the school.

They also plan to expand the abroad options. This includes working with the Gallagher International Center and St. Cloud State in Alnwick, England to create an opportunity for first-year students to start their abroad studies as they begin the higher education experience.
