The Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers program awarded five grants to K-12 out-of-classroom projects in South Dakota.

Each organization’s project is meant to focus on academic development of students outside of the school year.

The Black Hills Special Services Cooperative, the Boys and Girls Club of Watertown and of the Missouri River Area, Volunteers of America Dakotas and the Dupree School District each received grants.

The grants range from $50,000 to $300,000 per year for the next five years.
