A University of South Dakota professor died from injuries he sustained in a car vs. bicycle crash.
Vermillion police say Clayton Lehmann was riding his bike last week when it was hit by a vehicle. He died from his injuries two days later.
The crash remains under investigation. Police have not yet said whether the driver, who is a juvenile, will face charges.
Lehmann was a history professor at USD, where he taught for 35 years. The history department released a statement saying Lehmann impacted the educational journey of "countless students." The USD campus and surrounding community hosted a celebration of life on Nov. 21. Attendees wore bowties with pirate and "Doctor Who" themes in honor of the hobbies Lehmann enjoyed.
