Seven South Dakota out-of-school time programs receive grants to continue providing academic enrichment for students across the state.
The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grants have been distributed 24 grants in previous years, according to the state Department of Education. Individual grants range from $50,000 to $300,000.
The following organizations have been awarded the grants:
- Black Hills Special Services Cooperative – Discovery at Knollwood and Horace Mann;
- Black Hills Special Services Cooperative – Discovery at General Beadle;
- Black Hills Special Services Cooperative – Belle Fourche Community Learning Center;
- Chamberlain School District – Cubs LEAP;
- Enemy Swim Day School – Toka Nuqan Wayawa Tipi Out of School Time Program;
- Three Rivers Special Services Cooperative – Stanley County GOLD Program; and
- Three Rivers Special Services Cooperative – Jones County Coyote Club
Funding is distributed to the awarded organization over a five-year period.
