Applications now open for SD Game, Fish and Parks youth deer hunt

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks partners with the Missouri River Corridor Youth Hunt to offer a free first-time deer hunting opportunities for youth.

The program is limited to four youth ages 10 to 15. Participants learn how to select the correct ammunition and firearm for deer hunting while learning firearm safety.

They also learn how to sight in a firearm, field dress a deer, and properly care for the meat afterward.

The program offers all the equipment needed including meals, lodging, deer licenses and transportation.

The hunt takes place in Gettysburg on Dec. 21. Participants interested in applying have until Aug. 15. A link to the application can be found on the Game, Fish and Parks website.
