Ann Bolman, president of Western Dakota Technical College in Rapid City, died unexpectedly Tuesday.
Currently, there is no confirmed cause of death.
Bolman had a 25-year career in the field of education, including a long teaching tenure in Texas and spending the last nine years in her current role at WDT.
In a statement, WDT said the school is beginning the leadership search in coming days and weeks. Information about services for Bolman are also pending.
