Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is the spring commencement speaker at Dakota State University.
DSU extended the invitation while Noem was still serving as South Dakota governor, according to a press release.
University officials said Noem was a champion of DS.U programs while she was governor, including helping with the development of a $100 million cyber research initiative.
“It is an honor to be invited to speak at DSU’s commencement this year, and it is a joy to accept the invitation,” said Noem. “These students have put in years of hard work to get to this point and I’m looking forward to celebrating this incredibly special day with them and their families.”
Commencement is May 10 at the DSU Fieldhouse in Madison. Tickets are required for general admission seating. More information is available at DSU's website.
