Northern State University may be on the hunt for a new president as current leader Neal Schnoor is named a finalist for a chancellorship position.

If selected, Schnoor would be named the chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

A chancellor job is similar to a university presidency, but for a position in a larger network, such as the University of Nebraska system.

University officials say Schnoor oversaw a period of growth at NSU, including enrollment, academic efforts and new student support services on campus.

Subject to an appointment, Schnoor is contracted at NSU until late June. If selected, the state Board of Regents would name an interim president at NSU.
