A report submitted by state officials to the EPA cites 166 lakes and streams in South Dakota as polluted or impaired. The bodies of water fail to meet government standards for clean water.
Most of the polluted waters in South Dakota are due to non-point sources such as livestock waste.

Dakota Water Watch is conducting its training program in the Black Hills area during the second week of April.
The first is at the Community Lutheran Church (705 S. Newton Ave.) in Hill City on Thursday, April 10th from 5pm until 8pm.
The second is at the Lions Building on the Central States Fairgrounds in Rapid City (800 San Francisco St., Rapid City, SD 57701) from 9am until 12pm on Saturday April 12th.
