South Dakota receives federal restoration money

The Department of the Interior announced over $120 million dollars in inflation reduction money and South Dakota is on the list of states receiving funds.

The Inflation Reduction Act allocates $23 million dollars to be split between South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota.

According to the Department of the Interior, the money headed for the region is meant for landscape conservation and restoration.

The act is a part of President Biden's Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act which allocates more than $2 billion to the nation's water and land projects.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will work with individual states on developing projects to best utilize the funds, according to a press release.
