Great Plains Botanic Garden holds annual open house

This interview originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

Plant life on the Great Plains can't expect a whole lot of annual rainfall. And it's subjected to extreme temps, both low lows and high highs.

But some hardy plants have found a way to thrive here.

That's something that the Great Plains Native Plant Society wants to celebrate. They created the Great Plains Botanic Garden to showcase this flora.

That garden, located five miles south of Hermosa, is holding an open house this Friday and Saturday.

We learn the garden's history and what's in bloom with Cindy Reed, president of the Great Plains Native Plant Society.
