The collapsed North Sioux City rail bridge

Plans for a controlled blast at a downed BNSF rail bridge in North Sioux City are being called off.

The bridge over the Big Sioux River fell during this summer’s flooding.

Union County emergency manager Jason Wescott said plans were in the works to demolish the bridge with a controlled explosion. However, KTIV News reported Thursday afternoon those plans are now cancelled. It's unclear if it will be rescheduled.
