The state Department of Health has issued a couple advisories following a sampling program designed to assess the safety of fish consumption.
Officials say to limit consumption of walleye found in two South Dakota Lakes.
The first advisory warns against consuming walleye longer than 21 inches out of Dry Lake #1 in Clark County.
The second advisory warns against consuming walleye longer than 24 inches out of Lake Henry in Kingsbury County.
The advisories are based on mercury concentrations found in the fish samples and are designed to allow the public to make informed decisions about their dietary choices. DOH officials said the mercury found in the fish tissue is mostly from atmospheric deposition from sources outside the state.
