Alzheimer's & Early Detection

alz.org

In The Moment ... June 4, 2019 Show 588 Hour 1

In South Dakota, over 17,000 people are affected by Alzheimer's. The disease is America's 6th leading cause of death and affects more than 5,000,000 Americans and more than 16,000,000 family caregivers.

Early detection can  make a big difference in managing disease-related challenges, but many families struggle to take the first necessary steps.

Ruth Drew is the Director of Information & Support Services with the Alzheimer's Association. She's joined by Ed Ortiz, a caregiver for his mother.

Education and healthcare reporting on SDPB is supported by Regional Health, helping patients and communities live well
