A Woman Grateful For Her Second Heart

NPR

In The Moment … September 11, 2020 Show 900 Hour 2

For one South Dakota woman, three decades ago her life changed when she received a heart transplant. Communities in eastern South Dakota came together with fundraisers and support for the then 21-year-old whose heart was failing.

In catching up with Lisa Casper of Arlington these days, we find a woman grateful for her second heart, which now has been beating for her longer than the first one. She's healthy, happy, and running her own business.
