A new community triage center in Sioux Falls delivered a progress report.

The Link reported 2,300 encounters with people in need of help during the center’s first seven months of operation.

The center opened June 1 and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s a community clinic dedicated to responding and treating people struggling with mental health crises and addiction. The Link is a collaboration among Minnehaha County, the city of Sioux Falls, Avera Health and Sanford Health.

The Link provides chemical-dependent individuals with medical care and tools to better deal with their problems. In its first annual report, The Link said it has treated about 350 cases of withdrawal management, provided sobering services 1,500 times, and made almost 500 referrals to other services.

The Link is in downtown Sioux Falls at the corner of Dakota Avenue and 8th Street.
